Our emotions are a part of who we are, and we can choose how to use them.
Ask yourself this: Does this SERVE ME?
If not, then you need to release, and move on. It’s as simple as that. I know you’re thinking to yourself,
Really girl, you think it’s that easy to do that?”
Well, I’m here to tell you, and show you that it is if you want it to be. Being mindful is a practice. It’s a lifestyle. It’s something you start, and you look forward to improving upon on a daily basis. Some common practices include Yoga and Meditation.
My recommendations to begin your mindfulness journey:
Calm App – FREE version, and you can begin with a 7 day guided meditation. Get it here.
Breathing exercises – Close your eyes in a comfortable position.. while breathing in and out, imagine your breath as it moves through your body.
Nature Walk – Go for a walk, and slow down. Look at everything around you, and take it all in. What do you see, smell, touch, hear, and can feel?
Creative Therapy – Creativity is the key to your soul. It releases pieces of you that you didn’t know were there and holding you back from seeking true happiness. Try painting or journaling. Another great release to slow your mind down is to color, go buy a mandala coloring book.
Ground Yourself – Take a deep breath, now scan the area. Choose a color and look for 5 items within your vicinity. Another great way to ground yourself is the same practice I mentioned in your nature walk… look for your 5 senses (see, hear, touch, feel, smell) around you.
Being mindful is an important practice because it helps alleviate the negativity in your life.
The ability to remove the negativity in your life by simply holding onto the thoughts which serve you is a powerful tool. You’ll sleep better. You’ll stress less. You’ll radiate with happiness. Did I mention that your overall health will be significantly healthier?
The next time you feel something coming on that doesn’t serve you, be aware of it, scan it, and let it go if it doesn’t give you a good feeling. You’ll know when to play your cards, and when to fold, as the saying goes.
